 BE WHAT MAKES YOU SUCCEED!

  Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year!  I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to help prepare your child for the world we live in and all the wonders it contains. It will be a very fun and eventful year. I will teach your child math and science in the morning, and Ms. Hodge will teach reading, writing, and social studies in the afternoon.
This is my 2nd year to teach at Bang Elementary!  I have grown up in Texas almost all of my life.  I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Psychology and Philosophy, and I further pursued a Masters in Education at the University of Houston-Victoria. I have 2 wonderful parents, 1 wise grandmother, 3 fun brothers, 2 cute nieces, and 3 cool nephews! Almost all of my immediate family lives in Houston.
I know you and your child are ready for the challenges of second grade.    Our school wide theme this year is “Be…”, and our second grade theme is “Be what makes you succeed!”  My expectations for academic growth and conduct are high, but obtainable for your child.  I want your child to be excited about learning and to do his or her best in a positive learning environment.  Together, I know we will have a great year learning and having fun together in second grade!  I hope you will be able to attend Curriculum Night on Monday, September 15th 6:30-8:00.  It will provide helpful information of what is expected of your child this year.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you have and I will do the same. Our school phone number is (281) 897-4760
and my email address is kohmes@sbcglobal.net. I feel very fortunate to have your child in my classroom, and with your help we will have a successful year learning and growing together!

                   Sincerely,

Katrina Ohmes
